I look out my office window and what do I see?

A tornado! Over Durham!

NBC 17 seems to have removed the actual article, but from Google News and 17's own internal search, I found this:

"DURHAM, N.C. -- A reported funnel cloud in Durham County Monday was actually something else, according to the National Weather Service. The funnel cloud was the result of an interesting weather phenomena known as a cold air funnel, weather officials said. The cold air funnel is caused by the combination of a relatively warm ground and the cold temperatures above, along with spin in the atmosphere. A shower in the area helped focus the rotation of the cloud, the NWS said."

Yeah, so it turned out to be something else (other than a Tornado). Oh well. It sure looked cool and fairly dangerous from my vantage point! :) - Greg

Okay, so living in a place with no weather except for hot and hotter (and an occassional monsoon treat), I think that cloud is awesome!!! Glad you caught it on "film"... What do you call it nowadays with digital imaging???
